My Story: Why I Created Hear My Fear

People often look at someone's story from the outside and think it's simple.

The truth is that every person's journey is different. What may seem small to one person can feel overwhelming to another, and no one truly understands the weight of an experience unless they've lived it themselves.

I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder at 21 years old. At the time, I didn't understand what was happening to me or why I felt the way I did.

My anxiety became so severe that I experienced panic attacks daily, sometimes multiple times a day. I struggled to eat, couldn't stay home alone, and developed an intense fear that something terrible would happen to me if no one was around to help. I avoided public places, stopped seeing friends, and found myself unable to travel alone by bus, train, taxi, or even walk too far from home.

My mum became my safe place.

I followed her everywhere because being around her was the only thing that made me feel secure. Looking back, I know how exhausting that must have been for her. Eventually, we had a difficult conversation that forced me to realise how much my anxiety had begun to affect not only my life, but the lives of the people around me.

At the time, I felt like a burden.

I felt needy, dramatic, and ashamed of how much I was struggling.

But that moment also became a turning point.

Little by little, I began challenging myself. I learned techniques to calm my panic attacks. I spent more time outdoors and discovered that fresh air helped me feel grounded. I started having conversations with myself, speaking to my inner child with kindness and reminding myself that I wasn't fighting my body—I was learning how to work with it.

Slowly, I began doing the things anxiety had convinced me I couldn't do.

I visited public places. I went on solo dates. I used public transport. I built confidence in myself and eventually moved out of my mum's home.

While I learned how to manage my anxiety, I also learned something else.

Having people around you doesn't always mean you have the support you truly need.

I was surrounded by people who loved me, but I still felt alone in what I was experiencing. I didn't have a community of people who understood what it felt like. I didn't have a space where I could openly share my fears without worrying about being judged, misunderstood, or seen as a burden.

That is why Hear My Fear was created.

Hear My Fear exists for the people who feel alone in their struggles. For the people who don't feel safe enough to speak about what they're carrying. For the people who believe they have to push through everything by themselves.

Because the truth is, you shouldn't have to.

Through creative workshops, support spaces, meaningful conversations, and community, my goal is to create the kind of space I wish I had when I was struggling.

A space where people can share without judgment.

A space where people can feel understood.

A space where nobody has to carry everything alone.

Because healing doesn't happen in isolation.

It happens when we come together, support one another, and realise that we're not as alone as we thought.

We hear. We understand. We heal together.
